Learning at Tenbroeck
Tenbroeck Academy continues to thrive and remain true to its mission: to provide a safe and welcoming place where children are nurtured and encouraged to follow their curiosity and creativity, to offer quality education to children at all stages of their learning.
Our aim is to provide a 360 degree education. Complete education necessarily means giving equal importance to academics, sports, music, dance & theatre, to promote excellence in academic learning.
Tenbroeck Academy has designed the classrooms of all grades to be naturally ventilated with lots of natural light, created spaces for discussions and activities, and integrated technology into daily work – all at an individual or collaborative level. The curriculum and concepts are rendered to students in the form of presentations in small groups, based on the readiness of the student.
Weaved into the curriculum is an intense programme involving culture, fine arts, performing arts, sports and life skills. This program is being designed and managed by professionals in each area. Excursions and field trips kindle community awareness along with art and culture to create the perfect platform for nurturing a holistic approach.
Along with academic enrichment and a love for knowledge, equal importance is given to co-curricular activities. Part of the school day is devoted to a wide range of opportunities in the areas of sports, music, dance, theatre, and other interests such as gardening, waste management, chess, no fire cooking and more. A well-stocked library is designed to encourage reading and research habits, and our new annex houses a counselling room, a music room, and an infirmary.
Tenbroeck Academy knows that sports is an integral part of education, which is why the campus has a football field that can double up for hockey (13,000 square feet), cricket pitches and a 5-lane swimming pool.
All these elements are put together to ensure that your child is receiving the best at every stage of their learning journey, that they have the support and guidance of excellent staff and professionals, a host of resources at their disposal to let their minds expand and explore the material taught in class, to gain a deeper perspective and develop into individuals who are capable of effective problem-solving along with a strong sense of self, culture and values.

Dr Maria Montessori began developing her educational philosophy and teaching and learning methods in 1897 soon after her medical training. She did this while studying pedagogy and educational theory at the University of Rome. Dr Montessori based her work on her observations of children and experimentation with the environment, materials, and lessons available to them. Under her, the Montessori Methodology of education began to realise spread across countries as more and more people began to realize the merit of this system, and she gained recognition.
The Montessori methodology of education is designed for young children and aims to develop natural interests and activities rather than use formal teaching methods. Developed by an Italian physician Dr Maria Montessori, it emphasises independence and views children as naturally eager for knowledge and capable of initiating learning in a sufficiently supportive and well-prepared learning environment. It discourages some conventional measures of achievement, such as grades and tests.
The Montessori Methodology focuses on activities within a “prepared environment”, meaning an educational environment tailored to basic human characteristics, to the specific characteristics of children at different ages, and to the individual personalities of each child. The function of the environment is to help and allow the child to develop independence in all areas according to their inner psychological directives. In addition to offering access to the Montessori materials appropriate to the age of the children, the environment of your child will also include the following:

Teachers teach the Montessori curriculum to instil a passion for excellence in learners in everything they do, both in and outside the Academy.-
The elementary child is driven by natural curiosity, needing to figure out the interconnectedness of the world around them, and their place in the world. Maria Montessori used the term “cosmic education” to refer to the education of the elementary child. Cosmic education sparks excitement, enthusiasm, and wonder in a child.
According to Montessori philosophy, education is not just about maths, grammar, and science. Through cosmic education, children learn about the interconnectedness of the world. The children come to understand their role in the world, their potential, and the nature of their own “cosmic task.” Peace and gratitude are consistent themes in the cosmic education curriculum. Maria Montessori believed that the way to restore order and harmony in the world was through the education of the child. Children are our future.
Timelines, charts, and research cards of human needs help the child in independent study and inspire more research in geology, sciences, biology, geography, and history. Montessori elementary children use their imagination and reasoning minds to explore all the parts of the universe and are engaged in a variety of learning activities at the same time.
